A “one-stop” shared use food facility on Lopez Island, WA
The proposed facility will offer spaces to strengthen the local food system with community services, a community kitchen, commercial and retail activities. The facility will be developed with a LEED certified energy-saving design on a 1.15-acre parcel on Weeks Road, west of the post office in Lopez Village.
The Lopez Food Center plans include:
- Distribution site for the San Juan Islands Food Hub
- Food business incubator retail space and support
- Community kitchen
- Food storage rental space
- Home for the LIFRC Food Share Program (food bank)
- Meeting space for Heart and Soul, a Recovery Cafe Program
- Classroom and pop-up venue
- Food Skills Training Program
- Parking for Food Trucks
